In this final episode of my Costa Rica ayahuasca series, I’m wrapping up Night 4 (the strongest ceremony) and telling the truth about the part people don’t glamorize: what happens after you come home.

Because here’s the deal… ayahuasca isn’t a magic “fix.”
It doesn’t solve your life for you.
It opens you up enough to solve your life yourself. And that can be beautiful… and messy… and intense.

In this episode, I share what it felt like to go from a peaceful breakthrough on Night 3… to a full-body “I want this to be over” storm on Night 4—followed by one of the biggest lessons I’ve ever received:

Control was my coping mechanism.
And my body was ready to release it.

  • What made Night 4 feel so different (and why it hit so fast)

  • The many forms of “purging” (and why it isn’t always throwing up)

  • The moment I fell to my knees outside the maloka and realized: this is about control

  • The message I kept hearing: “Release control. You don’t have to control everything anymore.”

  • How surrender showed up in my body (and what shifted after I stopped fighting it)

  • Why your experience will never look like someone else’s (including my husband’s)

  • The post-ceremony crash no one prepared me for: highs, lows, and emotional whiplash

  • The integration mistake I made: I shut people out when I needed support

  • What changed long-term: nervous system regulation, being able to rest, setting boundaries, saying “no”

  • A powerful integration practice that surprised me: writing a letter to my younger self

  • The truth about healing: it can be hard… but it can also be hopeful

I’m not advocating that anyone do ayahuasca. This is my personal story and experience. If you feel called, do your due diligence, get support, and take integration seriously—because that’s where the real transformation happens.
